The service

Refocus is a research pilot: a web app for practising focused attention, run by Sam Evans, an individual based in the United Kingdom. Because it is a pilot, the service may change, pause, or end, and features may be added or removed while it runs. We'll be straightforward about any change that affects your data.

After the pilot

Refocus is a pilot that may lead to a production product. When the pilot ends, we may email you a one-time invitation to join that product. Accepting is entirely optional, and declining changes nothing about your data rights. The privacy policy explains how to opt out of that invitation entirely.

No medical claims

Refocus trains attention as a skill. It is not a medical or clinical product: it does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition, and it makes no promises about your alertness, energy, mood, or wellbeing. If you are concerned about your attention or mental health, please speak to a qualified professional. You can pause or leave any session at any time.

Your account

You sign in with an email link — no password. Keep access to your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. You must be at least 18 to take part in the pilot. One account per person, please.

Research participation

Using Refocus means taking part in the pilot study described in the privacy policy, which explains what we collect and why. Participation is voluntary: you can stop using the app, or ask us to delete your account and data, at any time.

Acceptable use

Use Refocus for its purpose — your own practice. Don't attempt to break, probe, or overload the service, access other people's data, or misuse the reminder system. We may suspend accounts that do.

Availability and ending things

We aim to keep the service available but don't guarantee it — it's a pilot, and outages or maintenance may happen. You can stop at any time; we can end the pilot or close accounts with reasonable notice. Either way, your deletion rights in the privacy policy are honoured in full.

Liability

Refocus is provided as-is, free of charge, for a research pilot. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes belong to its courts.
